Shalom friends

As you may be aware, representatives from 70 nations of the world have been invited to gather in Paris, France on the 15th of January 2017, to discuss ending the Middle East conflict.

Many African nations, including South Africa are expected to attend and participate in the conference.

This gathering is hypocritical, problematic and concerning for various reasons. Three of these reasons (summarised) are:

1. Firstly, the main protagonists in the conflict, Israel and the Palestinians, have not been invited to attend the conference. Instead, an invitation will be extended to the leadership of Israel and the Palestinians at the end of the conference to advise them of the outcomes of the conference.

 2. Secondly, It is expected that one of the outcomes of the conference will be an agreement on the borders for a Palestinian State.

3. Thirdly, it is also expected that outcomes from the conference will serve as the basis for further anti-Israel resolutions to be passed by the United Nations Security Council which will be sitting on the 17th of January 2017.

It is nonsensical for talks supposedly aimed at achieving peace between opposing parties, to be held without those parties. The world should remember that in South Africa’s transition into democracy, the negotiations of the peace process happened between South Africans only; calls for assistance by external parties were rejected. No country or the United Nations imposed conditions on parties representing opposite sides of the political spectrum of the time. Solutions to the on-going Middle East conflict, including a possible two-state solution, must be left to Israel and the leadership of the Palestinian people. The borders and other considerations for a two-state solution cannot and should not be determined by parties other than Israel and representatives of the Palestinian people.

A number of calls for prayer concerning the January 15 Paris conference, have been made in South Africa and across the world.

DEISI International would like to encourage its members and friends to answer this call.

These actions do not represent truth, justice or righteousness.

For Zion’s sake, make we not keep silent!

Kind regards
