Dear Community Members

We would like to invite you to join us for the annual Yom Hashoah Holocaust Commemoration Ceremony which will be taking place this Sunday (23 April) at West Park Ceremony.

This year’s ceremony will take place in two parts:

1.       `Reflections’ (10:30-11:00) which will include an extract from the play `Boys from the Ashes’, the King David Victory Park Choir and a performance of Eli Eli by Debbie Joffe.

2.       The Traditional part (11:30-12:30) which will include a testimony by Holocaust Survivor, Don Krausz, who was born in the Netherlands and at age 14 was sent to Ravensbruck and then to Sachsenhausen concentration camps.  As the Russians approached, he was forced to participate in the horrific `Death March’.  Rabbi Goldman will share his memories of his father who passed away last year.  His father was a survivor who was saved through the heroism of the Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara, and found refuge in Shanghai, China.

Both parts of the ceremony will be held at the Martyr’s Monument, West Park Jewish Cemetery on Sunday 23rd of April, with `Reflections’ from 10:30-11:00 and the traditional ceremony `Memories’ at 11:30.  There will be a half an hour break in between.
