From Abel Zhakata in Mutare

PRESIDENT Mugabe has urged youths to use New Information Technologies
productively, castigating rampant misuse of the Internet that he said was
bringing undesirable foreign traditions into the country.

He said abuse of the Internet was also a cause for concern in the ruling
Zanu-PF party where some members were fanning factionalism through social
media.

President Mugabe said this while officially opening a Community
Information Centre Dangamvura high-density suburb yesterday ahead of the
Sakubva Stadium youth interface rally.

He said through the Ministry of Information Communication Technology,
Postal and Courier Services, Government was committed to availing
information centres throughout the country to enable youths to access
information.

"Ndinoda kuti makorokoto mavana neInformation Centre kuno. Tinenge tiine
tarisiro yokuti ichashandiswa nomutoo kwawo, vanhu vakwanise kuti

President Mugabe said.

The President called for cooperation between the Ministry of Primary and
Secondary Education and the ICT Ministry to ensure Internet access to
pupils.

"Takatanga Information Centre yakaita saiyoyi kuye kunonzi kwaMurombedzi

Coming to deep-rooted factionalism in the province which he said was
raised by Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs Cde Mandi
Chimene during a briefing, President Mugabe said the party would deal with
the problem.

"Tauya nhasi kubasa redu guru remusangano weZanu-PF tiri vakokwi

said. "Tanzwa Resident Minister VaChimene vachiti zvinhu zvirikuitwa

The President also donated computers to six schools in Dangamvura as part
of promoting E-Learning.

ICT Minister Cde Supa Mandiwanzira said a total of 70 community
information centres had been opened countrywide.
